Boston Bruins Post All-Star Break Expectations Are Littered With Mediocre Goals And A Outlook That Is As Murky As The Water In The Charles River

Currently the Boston Bruins sit at a 25-21-6 record which is good for 56 points and 3rd place in the Atlantic Division at the NHL All-Star break. And for the most part they have been exactly what we expected with and up and downs throughout the course of the season.

But with the All-Star break now behind us it is time to set some realistic expectations for the post-break Boston Bruins along with some realistic moves in terms of roster moves before the trade deadlines. The trade deadline thoughts have no names attached on purpose since any names will be useless since trade speculation names usually never pan out.

Post All-Star Break Expectations:

  • Maintain the third spot in the Atlantic and make the playoffs
  • See growth from young players such as Frank Vatrano
  • David Backes needs to get hot
  • Tuukka Rask needs to continue his high level of play but he needs to get rest with Zane McIntyre needing to play at an acceptable back-up level which has alluded the Boston Bruins the last couple of seasons
  • Marchand stays hot and in turn gets Patrice Bergeron going

Realistic NHL Trade Deadline Options For The Boston Bruins:

  • Trade for a solid third line winger who can help bolster their depth and spell out their weak links
  • Trade for a solid back-up goaltender, but the Bruins would find a way to mess this up
  • Trade for a second pairing defenseman
  • Flip a player out for some draft picks, think Zac Rinaldo for a 3 rounder or something along those lines, not selling but trading away useless parts

In my mind I only see one or two of these things happening. Leave your thoughts on what the Bruins should do before the trade deadline in the comment section below along with your expectations of the team post all-star break.
