Boston Bruins Likely To Move On From Several Free Agents

Boston Bruins Likely To Move On From Several Of Thier Unrestricted Free Agents

The Boston Bruins will likely move on from their unrestricted free agents. This includes John-Michael Liles, Dominic Moore, and Drew Stafford.

This news comes from a press conference Bruins GM Don Sweeney hosted at Warrior Ice Arena ahead of the opening of the NHL Free Agency. Sweeney indicated that the B’s were moving on from the trio, but he also said that they were keeping in contact with Stafford.

Stafford is a 31-year-old forward who has said he would like to return to Boston publically.

Sweeney also mentioned that “The ultimate goal is to continue to improve our team.”.

But that doesn’t mean he is going to dive right in and make a flashy signing this year. Sweeney noted that he is going to be patient when free agency opens on July 1st.

Sweeney also commented on the current cap situation. He believes that the Boston Bruins will have around $3M in cap space by opening night. Bruins are beginning summer with $12.7M in space after signing Noel Acciari to a contract with a $725k cap hit.

NHL free agency opens on July 1st at 12:00 a.m.
