The Boston Bruins Recalling Backup Goaltender Anton Khudobin Is A Sign For Bad Things To Come Down The Stretch

The Boston Bruins have recalled goaltender Anton Khudobin from AHL Providence and in turn have delegated goaltender Zane McIntyre back to the little Bruins.

The Bruins sent the 30-year-old net-minder  to Providence after he posted a 1-5-1 with a 3.05 goals-against average and an .885 save percentage. His godawful performances and failure to win games killed the Bruins at times this season forcing them to call up McIntyre.

Against lesser competition it seems that Anton improved a tad with a 6-3-1 record a.892 save percentage and 2.86 goals against average in 10 games with the P-Bruins. Can’t really say much about that though with NHL level hockey being miles ahead of the AHL.

The reason for the call-up though is Zane failed in Boston with 7 appearances in 3 starts with a 0-3-1 record with a .860 save percentage and a ghastly 3.95 goals against average.

The Bruins gave him his fair shot at making it work in Boston, issue is Khudobin isn’t going to solve any of the Bruins problems in the net.

What the Boston Bruins need is to make a move for a real back-up goaltender who can help give Tuukka Rask some rest. Only problem is there isn’t any real option for them to go and get and plug right back in.

That unfortunately means that Khudobin will be the guy behind the guy for the forseeable future barring any movement on the trade market for a viable back-up goaltender.
