The Boston Bruins can only walk away from an agreement, leaving Spooner unrestricted, if it is for $4 million or more annually. An arbitrator usually settles on a number between the two requests.
This doesn’t have to end in a hearing though. The Boston Bruins and Spooner could come to an extension agreement ahead of the hearing. They could also work on contract details after the hearing and before the arbitrator’s ruling which must come by Friday.
Spooner’s arbitration date is in two days on July 26h.
