Boston Bruins Seem Content With Where They Are At Ahead Of The NHL Entry Draft

With the NHL expansion draft now behind the Boston Bruins, the team is now looking forward to the draft. But with the loss of Colin Miller one could question how the team feels about their defensive group.

But according to GM Don Sweeney, his is comfortable with the current 6 projected defensive starters.

“We feel very comfortable with the six guys we have on our roster right now…the group itself has a lot of depth to it”

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE theorized that C.Miller was expendable because he was a right-shot defenseman, like Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo— and if Boston held onto him he wouldn’t have developed.

As for the upcoming draft, Sweeney likes where Boston is positioned and there could be some moving of picks.

“We feel good about where we’re picking right now. We’ve had some talks in moving either direction, and moving the pick.”

On the RFA side of the business, the Boston Bruins have several big name players including the budding star, David Pastrnak. Sweeney seemed to have his thoughts in order and it appears Boston will start contract negotiations with the players they want to retains shortly after the NHL Entry Draft.

“We have [made decisions], but I haven’t contacted them yet…I’ll do that as soon as we get done with the draft.”

Bruins Injury Updates Have Begun

Today GM Don Sweeney has given an update on a few injured players.

Matt Beleskey who which is not a big deal since he might not even make the team is day-to-day with a foot contusion. This happened is the B’s last preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens

Jakub Forsbacka Karlsson is day-to-day as well with an upper-body injury that he received in the game against Detroit on September 19th. Hopefully, this is nothing because he was a kid that was slotted to make a roster spot.

Last is Torrey Krug who will be out for at least three weeks pending a re-evaluation at that time. He was hit in the jaw with the puck and suffered a non-displaced fracture. It occurred in the game against Detroit.

Also on another note, the team has sent Jack Studnicka and Kyle Keyser back to the OHL.

The biggest injury is with JFK, now some may say Krug but I think the B’s can find a replacement for him. McAvoy will most likely take over on the power play and maybe this opens the door for a guy like Rob O’Gara or Matt Grzelcyk. Other than these few hiccups Boston should be a fun team to watch this season. Especially if they stay as young as they have in camp and the preseason games.

Bruins Grab First Win Of The Preseason

Boston took on the Canadiens last night in Quebec City and came out with a victory. Last nights team was all about the kids. Unfortnitally the game was not aired on TV in Boston. the Bruins defeated Montreal 3-2.

From what I have read from people that saw the game is that the kids were very impressive. Tim Schaller, Anders Bjork, and Jesse Gabrielle were the goal scorers. As the whole, the team seems like they are in a good spot to be competitive this season. Especially with all of the prospects on the roster that are eyeing a spot in the big club.

The most impressive was last years NCAA Hobey Baker Finalist Anders Bjork. Bjork scored his first goal in a Bruins uniform last night. Also, the word on the street is that his chemistry with the team is growing. Look for him to grab a top-six spot on the roster heading into the season.

Here is Anders Bjork on his first goal in. A very hockey guy answer:
