Boston Celtics Guard Isaiah Thomas Out This Weekend With Injury

Boston Celtics fans must have gotten a bit of a shock after the team announced that All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas would be out for this weekends games with an injury.

Thomas will be out with a right knee bone bruise and at this point it is unclear when he will return to game action with the only definitive timeline is him missing this weekends games to start with Thomas not being on the teams flight Thursday afternoon to New York.

The Celtics play at Brooklyn on Friday night and have games Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia and Monday night at home against the Washington Wizards. Washington (41-26) trails Boston (43-25) by a game-and-a-half for the No. 2 seed in the East. The Celtics are two games behind the No. 1 Cleveland Cavaliers (44-22).

IT missed four games earlier this season with a right groin injury. Without him, the Celtics lost three of those four games. If Thomas is unable to go for any extended period of time there could be some trouble brewing on the horizon for the Celtics chances at securing the No.2 seed with the Wizards breathing down their necks.

With Thomas out Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will likely insert Marcus Smart into the starting lineup and increase minutes to players such as Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, and James Young.
