Boston Celtics Rumor: Utah Jazz Free Agent Forward Gordon Hayward Interested In Joining Miami Heat

The Gordon Hayward rumors are continuing to swirl around on Monday with no end in sight until the Utah Jazz free agent decides where he wants to be next season.

A new report is stating that Hayward has a new found interest in joining Pat Riley‘s Miami Heat team.

“An associate of Hayward said several weeks ago that he hadn’t heard Miami was particularly on Hayward’s radar and viewed Boston as the next-best option if he left Utah, which obviously wants to keep him,” the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote.

“But a source connected with Hayward said this morning that Hayward now has interest in the Heat, as well as other teams. (The Heat should by no means be called the favorite – Utah warrants that position – but Miami is positioned to at least be in the mix.)

But Heat president Pat Riley can be very convincing, and it won’t be surprising if he gets a meeting with Hayward. And if Riley gets a player in a room, anything can happen.”

The Heat can offer Hayward a max contract, but their roster is not comparable to what the Celtics have and ideally would have to add another star for Hayward to sign there. Boston is still enticing for Hayward because Danny Ainge can sell Hayward on joining a roster that he could push over the edge instead of Miami that missed the playoffs this year.

Celtics Talk: The Little Guys

The play of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward will not make or break this Celtics team. Everyone knows that they’ll perform. No it’s the ancillary characters, those hard-nosed guys who have been placed on the backburner, that will make the difference for Boston during the upcoming 2017-18 season.

This past summer was charged with controversy and pandemonium, following some massive moves made by Danny Ainge and his subordinates. Dishing out well-groomed fan favorites to teams manifold, Boston felt like the nexus of offseason activity in the NBA.

Many Celtics fans still harbor some reproach, regarding the unfamiliarity of this team. But I assure you that there is still exists that “Tommy Point” foundation, which the Celtics will look to for a foothold when the going gets tough. These are the individuals that will dictate the trajectory of this team’s season.

TV And Live Stream Info: Boston Celtics Kick Off Season In Cleveland

Boston Celtics

One of the most interesting sports teams in the City of Boston over the last couple of months has been the Boston Celtics. They have been this without even playing a single regular season game. But that all changes on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

The reason for this interestingness that surrounds them is simple. The NBA offseason.

In the offseason, the Boston Celtics made a flurry of deals and signings highlighted by the drafting of Jayson Tatum, the signing of Gordon Hayward, and the trade for Kyrie Irving. These three moves highlighted an offseason for Danny Ainge that could go down in history. With only Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Jaylen Brown returning to the team it looks to be a very different Celtics team on and off the court.

Heading into their regular season opener on Tuesday night they are one of the favorites to win it all. But before they win a championship they will need to prove that they can play well together and compete against the leagues best. Fortunately for Coach Stevens and the Celtics, they will have an opportunity to get a look at the leagues best to open the season.

With the C’s playing the Cavaliers comes a number of storylines, but here are the best.

  • Irving’s return to Cleveland
  • Irving v. LeBron James
  • Isaiah Thomas against the Celtics
  • Chemistry between the Celtics starting five
  • How will Stevens use his new players and what will the rotations look like.
  • Cavs vs Celtics

The last point is the most important one of them all. When it comes down to it these two teams, in theory, are the best in the Eastern Conference. They will likely have plenty of battles over the course of the NBA season and could be the two teams that make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Whatever happens for the 2018 Celtics starts on Tuesday at 8 pm, but for now, it is shaping up to be a memorable and exciting season in Boston.

Boston Celtics Starting Lineup Possibly Revealed

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics kick off their highly anticipated season on Tuesday against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Many speculate these two teams to be the best teams in the entire Eastern Conference. This opening night game should provide plenty of drama including the return of Kyrie Irving to Cleveland.

Irving in the starting lineup is as expected, but on Sunday Celtics coach Brad Stevens revealed what could be the opening night starting 5.

1  Kyrie Irving

2 Jaylen Brown

3 Gordon Hayward

4 Jayson Tatum

5 Al Horford

Now that is a starting five that many Boston Celtics fans have to feel good about. It features the “Big 3” along with two young players who have the potential to be stary worthy in their own right. This lineup also means the new and improved Marcus Smart will be the 6th man off the bench and everyone else coming behind him.

Some injury news hit the team on Sunday though with Stevens stating that forward Marcus Morris would miss about 10 days or so with general knee soreness.

You have to wonder about the condition of Morris. He came into camp late due to his court case with his brother. And once he arrived he was admittedly out of shape and had to work back into basketball condition. Obviously a different situation but so far he is drawing similarities to how David Lee came into camp a few seasons ago.

But when speaking with the media Morris has said all the right things and has the potential to be an impact player for Boston once he finds his way back to the court.
