Boston Celtics Rumor: Team Expected To Waive Forward Tyler Zeller

According to a report, the Boston Celtics will be waiving one of their players.

The Celtics are expected to waive center Tyler Zeller.

Zeller is due $8 million next season and according to the Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy he will be waived by tomorrow’s deadline.

Zeller was kept on the roster as a potential trade chip to help match salaries on a high-priced return (such as Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis).

Zeller averaged 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per night in 51 games for the Celtics last season.

Zeller came to Boston in a three-team trade with the Nets and Cavaliers. The 27-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Boston Celtics.

His best year for the Celtics came back in 2014-15, averaging career-best marks in points (10.2), rebounds (5.7), and field goal percentage (54.9 percent) in 82 games.
