Boston Celtics Rumors: Team Signs Abdel Nader To Rookie Deal According To Reports
The Boston Celtics added some forward depth to their organization on Friday.
According to the Vertical, the Celtics and Abdel Nader have agreed to a four-year rookie deal worth $6 million. Nader later confirmed the signing with a post on his Instagram signing the contract in what looks like a casino.
The Celtics selected Nader with the 58th pick of the 2016 draft. He was a surprise standout in summer league last year and then was named the D-League rookie of the year after averaging 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game for the Maine Red Claws.
Nader averaged 14.5 points and four rebounds for the Celtics during the 2017 summer league, but has missed the last three games with a calf strain.
What sets Nader apart is his versatility. He can handle the ball and run the point while also having the ability to finish at the rim and step back to hit three’s.
The 23-year-old seems to be a perfect fit for a Brad Stevens and will be an interesting player to watch this season for the Boston Celtics.
