Boston Red Sox Announce First Round Of Player Re-Assignments
Tuesday marked the first round of player re-assignments for the Boston Red Sox as they work on getting their roster down with the regular season drawing closer and closer each day.
In total on Tuesday the Boston Red Sox reassigned 6 players who are listed below:
Optioned to AAA-Pawtucket
- Left-handed pitcher Brian Johnson
- Left-handed pitcher Henry Owens
- Right-handed pitcher Brandon Workman
Reassigned to minor league camp
The Boston Red Sox roster now sits at 52 players in big league camp, including 37 players from the 40-man roster and 15 non-roster invitees. None of the roster moves on Tuesday are shocking with each of the three pitchers optioned to AAA were expected and the three position players reassigned to the minor league camp also a planned move.
The trio optioned to Pawtucket will be depth for the Boston starting rotation and potentially Workman being bullpen depth for the team as well. Devers who was reassigned to the minor league camp is expected to start the year in AA-Portland.
The team is expected to make another round of roster moves this Friday.
