Boston Red Sox Manager John Farrell Has Faith Dave Dombrowski Will Improve His Ball Club
On Dale and Holley featured Rich Keefe on Wednesday, Boston Red Sox Manager John Farrell expressed faith in the clubs President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski.
Farrell stated he likes the team he currently has but understands this is a time of year when players become available to be traded.
“We feel good about the team we have, but this is also a time of the year where players are becoming available,” Farrell said. “There’s no shortage of conversations and different types of deals that are being discussed between Dave [Dombrowski] and other clubs.”
One of the major areas of discussions right now in relation to the Boston Red Sox is third base. A position that they have essentially platooned for the entire season like the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones.
Boston was connected to Todd Frazier. But after Chicago traded him to the Yankees, Boston’s possibilities have apparently run wild. There are now reports of the Giants Eduardo Nunez, A’s Jed Lowrie, and three members of the New York Mets.
Farrell talked about a potential upgrade at third and maybe adding another late inning reliever. But he said it in a way where he really stated nothing at all.
“There’s been a lot of talk about what are we going to do at third base? How can we upgrade it? How can we give ourselves another bat in our bat that might be an upgrade? And then also do we look at options that might be there for a later-inning reliever?” Farrell said.
One thing Farrell has maintained is his faith in DD, a sentiment that he continued to state during his D&H interview.
“I know Dave is and will do anything to upgrade us that might make sense based on who we would have to give in return.”
The Major Leauge Baseball trade deadline is July 31st.
