Boston Red Sox Place Marco Hernandez On 10-Day-DL And Tyler Thornburg On 60-Day-DL
The Boston Red Sox placed utility infielder Marco Hernandez on the 10-day-DL, he had been filling in for the already DL’d Pablo Sandoval, who’s out with a knee injury.
Hernandez injured his shoulder on a ground ball Wednesday night against the Baltimore Orioles and was replaced by Josh Rutledge.
The Sox also moved right-handed reliever Tyler Thornburg (shoulder) to the 60-day DL and added tonight’s starting pitcher, right-hander Kyle Kendrick, to the 40-man roster as he takes injured knuckleballer Steven Wright‘s spot in the rotation. Wright will have season-ending knee surgery on Monday.
Thornburg’s DL stint is backdated to the start of the season making him eligible to come off the DL June 2.
