The Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 8-3 on Friday night.

Drew Pomeranz got the start for Boston and battled through his outing. Pomeranz went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Behind Pomeranz, John Farrell used Heath Hembree, Matt Barnes, and Craig Kimbrel. Hembree was the only reliever who had trouble only recording 1 out while giving up 3 hits and a run.

Boston’s offense was fueled¬†by the home run on Friday. Dustin Pedroia, Jackie Bradley Jr, and Hanley Ramirez all homered for the Red Sox. 4 of Boston’s runs came via the home run.

Mookie Betts continues to struggle at the plate as he went 1-for-5 and is 1-for-19 in his last 4 games.
