Boston Red Sox Pitching Prospect Jay Groome Picks Up First Pro-Win In Return To Greenville
Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Jason Groome pitched in his first start for the Greenville Drive since suffering a lat injury in his first start of the year.
He had built up his endurance with 3 rehab starts with the Lowell Spinners and was ready for a Fourth of July start for the Drive. He ended up going five shutout innings, and only allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out seven batters.
The game was Groome’s first career win as a professional. Now that he is finally healthy he now can show the Boston Red Sox organization his true ability.
The 18-year-old’s current ETA to the majors is 2020.
