Boston Red Sox Sweep The Chicago White Sox In A Four Game Series At Fenway Park
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park. The win marks a series sweep of Chicago who Boston played for four games starting back on Thursday.
Despite getting knocked around early the veteran was able to settle in for the Red Sox.
Fister went 6.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 8 base hits with 7 strikeouts. Behind him, John Farrell used Addison Reed to finish the seventh, Matt Barnes in the 8th, and Craig Kimbrel to close it out in the 9th inning.
Boston’s offense collected 8 base hits en route to their 6 runs driven in. The Red Sox hit two home runs on the day, both coming in the first inning. Eduardo Nunez had one and Chris Young had the other.
Young was the only Red Sox hitter to have a multi hit game going 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs on the day.
Both the Yankees and the Rays won in the AL East on Sunday to maintain their distance behind the Red Sox for first place in the division.
