New England Revolution Make A Trade, Acquire Forward Krisztián Németh From Columbus Crew SC
With a lot of speculation revolving around the New England Revolution trade chances, a move has been made according to the club.
The Revolution have made a trade for forward Krisztián Németh from Columbus Crew SC. This move comes ahead of the close of the Secondary Transfer Window which closed on August 9th.
In exchange for Németh, the Revolution are sending Crew SC $200,000 in Targeted Allocation Money in 2018, $200,000 in General Allocation Money in 2018, and an international roster spot until December 31, 2018.
Németh will join the Revolution’s roster via the use of Targeted Allocation Money pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Németh was acquired by Columbus using its top position in the MLS Allocation Ranking Order. As a result, New England moves from the second spot to first in the Allocation Ranking.
New England Revolution Management Looking For Impact This Season
Revs GM Michael Burns is “pleased” on the acquisition and looking for him to have an “impact this season”.
“We are pleased to have acquired Krisztián and look forward to him making an impact this season,” said Revolution General Manager Michael Burns. “Krisztián is a proven goal scorer in this league and abroad. We believe the leadership and experience he brings to New England will make him an immediate asset.”
Németh is 28-years-old and brings 12 seasons of professional experience to New England.
The Hungarian native most recently spent two seasons with Al-Gharafa SC of the top-flight Qatar Stars League, scoring 12 goals with five assists in 24 league appearances, including 22 starts. He does have MLS experience though, in 2015 with Sporting Kansas City he totaled 10 goals and six assists in 28 regular season games. He has one MLS postseason start and in that game, he scored a goal.
New England Revolution fans were clamoring for some type of move from the team, and the team has responded by adding a proven goal scorer to their squad. News of this deal leaked out ahead of the transfer window closing but the team had to hold off the official announcement till the day after.
New England will take on the Vancouver White Caps this Saturday at home in Gillette Stadium. It is unclear at this time if Németh will be present or not. Chances are he will be held out until he has a full week of training with New England under his belt.
