New England Patriots Place Hightower And Branch On PUP
The New England Patriots have made several roster moves ahead of Thursday’s training camp opening.
Defensive lineman Alan Branch and Dont’a Hightower have been placed on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, while offensive lineman Andrew Jelks has been placed on the NFI (non-football injury) list. These moves are according to the NFL transaction wire.
These moves are according to the NFL transaction wire and have yet to be confirmed by the team.
Players who are on the PUP list are not allowed to practice with the team but can come off the list at any time. Players who are on the list at the end of the preseason have to sit out the first six weeks of the season but do not count against the roster.
Hightower has had shoulder and knee concerns for the majority of his career. It’s unclear what has caused Branch to land on the list, but this has happened in the past and he gets off the list once he passes the conditioning test.
The NFI list is for players who suffered their injuries unrelated to football and can come off it at any time. Jelks, an undrafted rookie free agent, didn’t participate in any of the spring sessions open to the media.
