Patriots Rumor: Cleveland Browns Still Trying To Get Jimmy Garoppolo Via Trade
You may be starting to get sick of the talk surrounding New England Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo but there is more coming out and it likely will not end anytime soon as long as he is a member of the Patriots organization.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns will still try and trade for Patriots’ backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
The report says the Browns’ No. 12 overall pick likely won’t get it done, and the Patriots want the Browns’ No. 1 overall pick this year, which the Browns won’t be willing to do. The report also says the Patriots could seek the Browns’ first-round pick (No. 12) this year and a first-rounder next year.
The Browns have traded for Brock Osweiler, but that deal according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter wasn’t for the Browns to get a QB, it was for them to acquire a second round draft pick which could be used to add in a bundle for Garoppolo.
It will be interesting to see how the Patriots handle this, but if Belichick thinks he is the QB of the future, there is no deal he should accept.
