Patriots Talk: Veteran Receiver Julian Edelman Credits Trainer Alex Guerrero For Productivity As He Gets Older
Patriots QB Tom Brady has been working out with Alex Guerrero for quite some time, now a fellow Patriots player is seeing the noted trainer.
31-year-old Patriots receiver Julian Edelman credited Guerrero on Tuesday for helping him stay healthy and productive as he gets older and older.
“I think it’s a huge part,” Edelman said. “It’s a lifestyle on how to take care of your body, what you put in your body, flushing your body with his work. Before and after practice, keeping your muscles pliable, keeping them hydrated; those things. All it is is knowledge and the more knowledge you get through the years, the more powerful you can get. That’s kind of the little saying: more knowledge, more power. It’s definitely helped me a lot and I look forward to continue doing it.”
Last season Edelman played in 16 games for just the second time in his career and had one of his best seasons finishing with 98 catches for 1,106 yards and three touchdowns. It is worth noting that Edelman started seeing Guerrero last offseason.
With Edelman under contract till 2019, his eyes are focused solely on the 2017 campaign.
“I’m just worried about 2017,” Edelman said. “It’s an exciting part of the year right now. It’s almost the start of the season, so that’s what I’ll be looking forward to.”
If Guerrero’s work with Brady is any indication, maybe 2019 won’t be the last year in the league for Edelman.
