Patriots Talk: Julian Edelman Will Be A Cover Model for ESPN’s ‘Body Issue’
The NFL season is still well over 70 days away for now, but all players are getting themselves prepped for training camp this July. However, that doesn’t mean that everyone will be focusing on maintaining their bodies, but also enjoying their open schedule. Patriots’ [Wide Receiver] Julian Edelman is one of those people.
ESPN has once again launched its ‘The Body Issue’ series, where they covers athletes either in the nude or semi-nude photography. The magazine was launched to rival Sports Illustrated annual Swimsuit series. The magazine was first published on Oct. 9th, 2009. The magazine goes in-depth with athletes about their most proudest parts of their bodies and what they do to stay in shape.
Edelman explained during his interview with ESPN that the one part of his body that he isn’t proud of is his feet. The wear and ter that he has done over the years of his NFL career have made him somewhat cautious of how his feet would appear to people: This was his quote:
I’ve got very ugly feet. The moment I got in the NFL — when I started having to do these cone drills and learning how to run routes, and your feet are just constantly going in and sliding and hitting the back or the front of your toe — my feet have just gotten so ugly. I’ve got a bunion on my right one. My toenails are all jacked up. I’ve got scars on the side of them. I’m embarrassed of them. I don’t try to hide them, but I don’t wear sandals, I’ll tell you that right now. No words can describe them. They look like grim reaper feet. Tales of the crypt. Remember “Tales From the Crypt”?
Edelman will be the 1 of only 3 NFL players that will be featured as part of the 2017 series. He will be joined with Philadelphia Eagles’ [Tight End] Zach Ertz and Dallas Cowboys’ [Running Back] Ezekiel Elliot for the 2017 series. Other athletes that will be part of the Body Issue will be the Boston Celtics’ [Point Guard] Isaiah Thomas.
