Patriots Talk: Malcolm Mitchell Signs New Book Deal
Many athletes use their status to help create a platform to further their opportunities to be entrepreneurs. New England Patriot’s [Wide Receiver] Malcolm Mitchell last Thursday had signed a three-book contract with Children’s book publisher, Scholastic. The rookie WR was a key player in 2016 for the Patriots and helped them to their OT victory 34-28 in Super Bowl LI.

The first official publication of the three books will be a newly illustrated edition of Mitchell’s debut work, “The Magician’s Hat,” which he self-published in 2015 when he entered his senior year at the University of Georgia. The book, aimed at children ages 4-8, tells the story of a magician who amazes children by introducing them to the power of literature and reading.
Mitcell followed up the book’s release (which will be available through Scholastic starting in May of 2018) by starting the Share the Magic Foundation, which promotes youth literacy with his new program ‘Read With Malcolm’. He spoke in his public statement that:
“Reading has truly reshaped my life, and gifted me a love for writing. I am very excited about partnering with Scholastic! Teaming up with such an accomplished group allows me to not only begin a career in writing, but also provides a phenomenal platform to advocate my message, along with Scholastic’s that picking up a book and reading can change your life. We hope to share the magic of reading with so many more children, so they can accomplish whatever goals they set for themselves.”
