Pawtucket Red Sox Lose To Buffalo Bisons To Open Up Series
The Pawtucket Red Sox lost to the Buffalo Bisons 5-0 on Friday night to open up their 3 game series at McCoy Stadium.
Kyle Kendrick was on the mound for the Pawtucket Red Sox on Friday night in what could be his last start in the Red Sox organization.
His outing couldn’t have started any worse with the righty giving up two earned runs in the first inning on four loud base hits. Even Kendrick’s outs were loud with the exception of a pop-up to Pablo Sandoval in foul territory over at third.
Kendrick ran into some more problems in the third inning. He gave up one run and 2 base hits in the third. He was able to settle down a bit after the troublesome first and worked around base hits every inning he was on the mound.
The fourth run allowed by Kendrick on the night came in the fifth inning with the bases loaded jam. He got the needed ground ball with one out but the infield turned the play too slow only getting one out instead of the inning ending double-play.
Kendrick’s final night on Friday was 5 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K’s and through 99 pitches, 63 for strikes.
Pawtucket Red Sox Manager Kevin Boles used Kyle Martin a the first guy out of the pen. Martin went two innings of work giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
The second man out of the bullpen was Ty Buttrey to work the 8th and 9th innings for Pawtucket. Buttrey went 2 innings giving up 3 hits and two walks.
Offensively this was not Pawtucket’s night scoring zero runs in the game. They were held hitless by Luis Santos for 4 and 1/3 innings before second basemen Hector Meneses broke through with a single.
Pawtucket managed just 5 hits on the night with two of them being singles by Meneses.
On Saturday the PawSox play game 2 of the series with Edgar Olmos on the mound for a 6:15 p.m start followed by princess and pirates themed fireworks.
