Red Sox Rumor: Pedroia One Of The Players Cheering For Price When He Ambushed Eckersley

Take this for what it is. But according to Fred Toucher of Toucher and Rich on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Dustin Pedroia was one of the players cheering for Price.

The cheering was for when David Price ambushed NESN color-man Dennis Eckersley on the team plane as it was headed to Toronto late last month. This is an unconfirmed report. With Toucher having a source claiming Pedroia “was cheering aggressively” for Price.

Pedroia has always been a bit of a fan favorite. With the second basemen’s mantra being lead by example with extraordinary efforts on the field. Pedroia’s antics this season could cause any fan to be turned off from the veteran though.

Earlier this season the situation between Pedroia, the team, and the Baltimore Orioles was one that put a blemish on Pedey’s image. Many will remember him throwing his team under the bus and being a pushover in the incident with Manny Machado.

Update:

Rob Bradford of WEEI has a source that disputes Pedroia’s involvement. It is worth mentioning though that CSNNE confirmed the Fred Toucher report.

At the moment it is unclear who was involved.
