Red Sox Send Robby Scott To AAA Pawtucket To Make Room For Brian Johnson
It was announced by the Boston Red Sox after tonight 4-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays that LHP Robby Scott was being optioned to the Pawtucket Red Sox. This was to make room for SP Brian Johnson who will make the start for the Red Sox tomorrow night.
This move wasn’t based on performance at all. Scott was one of the few relievers that had any options left. Reliever Fernando Abad wouldn’t be able to be sent down to the Paw Sox without clearing waivers.
Scott has pitched well for the Red Sox this season. In 38 games for the Red Sox this season, Scott has a 1-1 record with a 3.75 ERA in 24 innings. He’s mainly been a lefty specialist for the Red Sox but he has had some appearances where he has had a full inning of work.
Scott’s Numbers In July
Scott has struggled for the Red Sox in July however. In 6 appearances, he has gone 5 1/3 innings, giving up 5 earned runs. That included giving up runs in his 4 appearances for the Red Sox on their 11 game road trip before the all-star break.
However, Scott pitched well in his last 2 appearances over the weekend against the Yankees. In those 2 appearances, he went went 2 innings, striking out 1.
You definitely haven’t seen the end of Robby Scott in a Red Sox uniform. The latest you will see Scott again is in September when rosters expand.
