Red Sox Starter Drew Pomeranz Leaves Game Early With Injury

In the fourth inning of Friday nights game against the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz left the game.

He left after landing awkwardly on the mud filled mound causing Eduardo Nunez to run over to check in with the starter. After being looked at by John Farrell and the training staff the team made the decision to pull Pomeranz who clearly didn’t look right.

After his departure, the team announced that the starter left with back spasms. A common injury amongst pitchers and in theory is not a big deal in terms of missing game time.

The man called upon to work the long appearance out of the bullpen was Brandon Workman.
