Boston Bruins Have A Real Shot To Win Some Playoff Games
The Boston Bruins and myself have had ups and downs all season long with the lows being very low and the highs being very high. The latest low was less than two weeks ago in the midst of a serious losing streak that saw the Black and Gold fall out of the third spot in the Atlantic and at one point on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.
Now the Bruins are back in the playoff picture in the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and all but seemingly set to take on the Washington Capitals in the first round. Of course they have three regular season games remaining and with 92 points they are tied with the Ottawa Senators for the third spot and they sit just one point back of the Toronto Maple Leafs who hold the second spot.
The Boston Bruins are winless against both of these teams this year so they can’t tie with them, fortunately for Boston though they have one more game against the Senators on April 6th.
If they can somehow leapfrog the Senators they go from facing Washington to facing a young Toronto team in the first round of the playoffs. If they can somehow get into this scenario which a win against the Sens could provide, you could actually see a Bruins playoff run.
Of course the B’s are not guaranteed to have any success against Toronto with them being winless in the season series, but you have to like their chances more against Toronto than Washington. A Mike Babcock lead team should be in a good position in a playoff game, but I would take my chances on a Veteran Boston Bruins team over a young Maple Leafs squad.
