Boston Celtics Confirm Isaiah Thomas Will Play in Game 2
In their 106-102 Game 1 loss against the Chicago Bulls all-star guard, Isaiah Thomas led the C’s with 33 points. He did this despite having lost his sister Chyna J. Thomas who passed away just over 24 hours prior to that game having been killed in a car crash in Washington.
With IT being vital to the success of the Celtics many fans are wondering about his availability in game 2 of the series. According to Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, Thomas will play in Game 2 against the Bulls on Tuesday night at TD Garden.
Shortly after the game though IT will board a plane to his hometown of Tacoma, Washington where he will be with his family mourning the loss of his sister. For now, according to Stevens the plan is to have Thomas fly to Chicago prior to Game 3 which happens to be on Friday night.
Given the tough nature of this Stevens made sure to note that the team will fully support whatever decision that Thomas makes.
“Whatever he needs to do, he needs to do, and we’ll help in any way,” Stevens said. “If he needs to and wants to stay here, then we’ll be here surrounding him. And if he wants to go to Seattle, then he should go to Seattle. It’s his call; and should be.”
What Thomas was able to do in game 1 was something of a miracle considering all the emotions the star was dealing with. Ultimately in that game, Boston failed to capture the victory giving up countless offensive rebounds and debatably mishandling of personnel.
Hopefully the Celtics are able to recover and continue to rally around Thomas in their trails during the NBA Playoffs. Once again our thoughts and prayers are with Thomas and his family during these tough times.
