Boston Celtics Rumor: Team Willing To Trade Net’s Picks For Right Price

With NBA trade rumors swirling the word on the street is the Boston Celtics are willing to move their Brooklyn Net’s draft picks if the price is right.

This notion came out via the Boston Herald on Friday where an NBA league executive says Celtics Team President Danny Ainge is letting the entire league know that the draft picks are on the market.

“Danny’s let it be known that he’s willing to talk about the Nets’ picks,” one league executive told the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett in an article written Friday. “But you want one of those guys, you have to be willing to give up a star”.

One rumor that has started to gain traction is Phoenix Suns PJ Tucker who can shoot, play defense, and rebounds the ball well. The report is that the Celtics have “expressed deep interest” in Tucker and would be a minor move for the team but would still be a step forward for them.

Tucker is currently averaging  7 points 6 rebounds a game along with a physical presence he can bring to the court. He is on an expiring contract and adding him could allow Brad Stevens to play a bigger lineup. This is a cheap option for the team and is a very different direction than trading the farm for Jimmy Butler.

Tucker would not require a Net’s pick, if Danny does indeed trade a Net’s pick think of Jimmy Butler as a caliber of player that would have to be a return. But going for a star would cost both Net’s picks and then some. Even though the Boston Celtics are expressing an interest in shopping the Net’s pick it might be in their best interest to stay put and go small.
