Boston Red Sox Roster Predictions For The 2017 MLB Season
The Boston Red Sox roster is entering its first season since 2002 that the name David Ortiz will not appear on the 40-man-roster. Despite that fact Red Sox fans should not worry, there is a team in place for the 2017 season that can compete with the best in the entire league despite the absence of Ortiz.
This is a roster that is packed with talented players, MVP types, Cy Young types, and gold glove players stashed at what seems to be at every position on the field. What about prospects you might ask? Well that isn’t really an area where this years club excels in with the majority of their talented young players either already on the major league club or being shipped out via trade by Team President Dave Dombrowski.
The biggest questions with this team lies in what they can expect out of their trio of aces, who in the lineup will help fill the void of Ortiz, and can John Farrell and this squad compete in the playoffs with a pitching staff that has had little to no success in postseason play.
Over the next several slides I will break down every area of the Red Sox roster with some predictions in terms of roles and potential production, then towards the end will be a prospects section and a prediction for the overall team and the future of the franchise.
