Monster Energy Supercross: Ryan Dungey Takes Back The Red Plate As Nothing Goes Right For Eli Tomac

Dungey Wins In New Jersey

450 Class:

Ryan Dungey takes New Jersey. Going into Saturday was a must win for Dungey. The Main started off pretty normal. But that si not last long as Jason Anderson overshot a triple and fell of the bike giving Eli Tomac first. Then his stay in first was also short-lived when he went down after getting his foot-peg stuck in a rut. This dropped him back to 15th. This allowed Dungey to take the lead.

It looked as if Dungey would sail easily to the victory, but teammate Marvin Musquin had other plans. Musquin made the pass on Dungey. Then Dungey being Dungey did not panic and just kept Marvin close, and waited for him to make a mistake. That mistake cam on the final lap in one of the final turns, Musquin cross-rutted and had to make a save. Now just before this he took a hard look at the pit board as he passed the mechanics area. Now some may say that Marvin let Dungey take the win for the extra points as Tomac at that point had may his way back up to 8th.

After the race Marvin just said he made a mistake and that was it but we will never know if he just let his teammate take the victory. Dungey’s takes back the lead and the red plate as they head into Vegas for the championship race. He is only 9 points ahead so he needs to win Saturday.

250 Class:

Adam Cianciarulo was able to grab the holeshot before Jordon Smith but that is all that Adam got. Joey Savatgy quickly took over first place. Then Zach Osborne who did not have a great start was charging hard. Osborne caught up to Cianciarulo and made quick work of him. He then put his sights on Savatgy and was able to catch him and pass him. Zach would then take the win.

After Osborne made the pass Savatgy went down shortly after and it was determined that he failed to re-enter the racetrack at the closest safe point. He was docked a five position penalty by the AMA, making him eight. This meant that Jordon Smith would take third.

Osborne heads to Vegas behind Savatgy by only one point. Vegas is going to be crazy. The standings have not been this close in a while.
