New England Patriots Are The Definition Of Next Man Up
So far this offseason there has been full slate of players leaving for more money rather than coming back after testing free agency, and pretty soon just like that, those players leaving will regret there decision. But for New England Patriots coach Bill Belicheck, it’s the next man up philosophy that let’s these players go.
For example if Malcolm Butler leaves, than Stephon Gilmore will take over. If anyone remember when they traded away star Line Backer Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns everyone thought maybe the iconic field goal block is over. But not for long when Shea McClellin perform the same identical play against the ravens this past season. So if the pats are cutting ties with your favorite player it may mean the end of them but not the end of winning. Bill coaches them all the same. Down to the bone and hard knocks.
Same goes for draft picks, last year Roger Goodell took away a few of the pats draft picks including the most important the first round draft pick. Belicheck proved last year that one pick wasn’t going to end the world at all for the pats. In fact he sign some first rounders from the past and picked up Martellus Bennett and said to the NFL we don’t need no draft pick.
This year he echoed that in a big way where he once again traded that pick to the New Orlean Saints for star Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks. So let me just ask, if we lose butler would it matter? He’s a star yes but wouldn’t you think there player should under him who are just as good? Look at Darrelle Revis, he played under him and became the star.
