The deal according to Hightower’s management firm is for 4 years, $43.5M, with $19 million guaranteed. The return of Hightower was expected after the Pittsburgh Steelers failed in their hostile pitch to get Hightower to make a decision before he left Pittsburgh.
The other team that was in the running was the New York Jets who went all out in their pitch to land the veteran linebacker but the report that came out earlier on Wednesday stated that the Jets were out of the running ever since he left their building last week.
The contact itself is a good one for New England as they retain one of the key players in their defense, and at this point their chances of repeating as Super Bowl Champions is looking really good.
