Patriots 2017 Schedule is Official, Kansas City Chiefs will play in Season Opener

The NFL have officially released the New England Patriots‘ 2017 Schedule for the Regular Season this Fall. According to the new release, the Patriots will be playing against the Kansas City Chiefs in the opening game of the season at Gillette Stadium. The game will be at 8:30 PM EST.

The schedule has their bye week at Week 9 which puts it in the middle of the regular season. This will be good for the Patriots in terms of rest. Especially for the following games after the bye week because they will be the toughest part of their entire schedule.

The team will be playing five road games all within six weeks of each other, after the bye on Nov. 5. It starts with the back-to-back road games against the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium, then a trip down to Mexico City to face the  now Las Vegas Raiders. After the home game against the Miami Dolphins, it’s back on the road for three straight games through December at Buffalo, Miami and then Pittsburgh. These six weeks will be critical based on the margin for error the Patriots will have created for themselves during the first half of the season. This will be the defining stretch for the team.

The overall projections on ESPN that were released last month put the Patriots’ strength of schedule at 12th. With the back to back games at Mile High stadium and then flying to Mexico City against the Raiders will be the biggest obstacle to overcome. However, the the schedule will be quite friendly to the team in terms of time slots as they will have three home games at 1 PM EST. (Fans will definitely love that!)
