Patriots Talk: Tom Brady and The Madden Curse
If there is one thing we have become clear on, it’s Tom Brady’s competitive spirit. He has become known to many by this point as one of the greatest to have ever played the sport. However, it seems that many fear he is biting off more than can chew.
Last week, it was declared that Brady will be the new face for the cover of Madden 18. (Also now dubbed ‘The G.O.A.T Edition’) This is quite surprising since his teammate, [Tight End] Rob Gronkowski was the face for Madden 17 last year, but I think many Patriots fans won’t complain. Brady has been apart of the NFL for so many years, its quite shocking how he never made it onto the cover before now.
But with Brady coming up on 40 years of age, many are thinking that the so-called infamous ‘Madden Curse’ will strike against the Patriots star Quarterback. For those who aren’t in the know, the Madden Curse is a myth that has been around the Madden franchise for sometime now. The curse dates back all the way to the early 2000s and can be seen as a jinx on players, such as with Marshall Faulk, who will fall off immediately after the game is released.
Tom Brady isn’t afraid though. He posted a video on Facebook that he didn’t believe in curses and to prove it, decided to break a mirror on live camera and then crawls underneath a ladder. He does this to prove a point: taht everything related with bad luck, shouldn’t be taken seriously. But for someone like Brady, he feels that being on the cover is an honor and I am certain he can’t wait to play for next season.
