Red Sox Pitching Prospect Brian Johnson Starts Tonight For The Pawtucket Red Sox Against Scranton

The Pawtucket Red Sox take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders tonight at 6:05pm in the second game of the three game series at McCoy Stadium. There are a few notable things to keep an eye out of tonight:

  • Boston Red Sox utility man Brock Holt is making a rehab start tonight playing in Left Field. In his five rehab games so far with AAA Pawtucket and AA Portland he is hitting .154 with 3 singles and 1 RBI.
  • Brian Johnson is on the mound tonight for the Paw Sox. Since his start with the Red Sox on April 18th when he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings, he has been lights out at the AAA level. In 2 starts since then, he has given up 4 earned runs in 13 innings. That includes an 8 inning effort last time out when he only gave up 1 run on 2 hits against the Syracuse Chiefs on May 2nd.
  • Top prospect Sam Travis is starting at 1st base tonight for the Paw Sox. He has struggled coming out of the gate to start the season. But in his last 4 games he is 6 for 16 with 3 2B, and a home run last night off of Daniel Camarena.

Here is the Paw Sox lineup for tonight’s game against the  Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders:

RF Aneury Tavarez

CF Rusney Castillo

LF Brock Holt

DH Steve Selsky

1B Sam Travis

2B Jantzen Witte

3B Matt Dominguez

C Dan Butler

SS Meiker Meneses

SP Brian Johnson
