Red Sox First Round Of September Call Ups Revealed

Well it looks like the first wave of September call-ups are upon us.

Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reported a list of Pawtucket Red Sox players that are being called up to Boston as part of the first wave of September call-ups.

Per Drellich, wave one will consist of;

Tzu-Wei Lin (Hyper Utility)

Sam Travis (Has Transitioned Into Left, Serviceable at the position)

William Cuevas (Long option out of bullpen)

Bobby Poyner (Left handed option)

Robby Scott (Left handed option)

One shocker is the fact that Brandon Phillips was left off this wave of callups despite hitting .307 in 137 at-bats with Triple-A Pawtucket this season. Part of the reasoning behind that though is the 40-man roster.

The next potential call-ups will be Justin Haley, Chandler Shepherd, Marcus Walden, and Tony Renda. All of which are currently on Boston’s 40-man roster.

When this is all said and done, it could be hard for Boston to ignore the veteran Phillips, but thus far, they have done just that.

The second wave off call-ups will take place after the PawSox season ends on Labor Day.
