Friars Fall To Maine But Clinch Hockey East Playoff Spot

In the final game of the regular season the Providence College Friars have punched their ticket to the Hockey East Playoffs. That spot comes despite of a 1-0 loss to Maine on Friday night on the road.

PC outshot Maine 48-to-24 but the Black Bear’s goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 48 saves and blanked a dangerous Friars attack.

Providence will now prepare for a best of three series in the Hockey East Quarterfinals starting next Friday at either Boston College or UMass. The opponent will be determined tomorrow night by Northeastern. A Huskies loss or a tie would send PC to UMass, a Huskies win results in PC heading to face Boston College.
