New England Revolution Prepared For U.S. Open Cup Match In Orlando In Round Of 16

On Wednesday the New England Revolution will take on Orlando City SC in the Round of 16 of the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Exploria Stadium located in Orlando.

The match is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed for Revolution fans on ESPN+. If New England wins the match they will host a home match that is expected to take place at Providence College.

“I think after last year we were a little disappointed on how we exited,” said Revs Defender Andrew Farrell. “We have that feeling of getting on a run. Getting on a run in the Open Cup can propel results in league play.”

First things first though, New England has never played Orlando in the tournaments long history but the two MLS sides have already played each other in an exhibition match during the preseason in which Orlando defeated the Revs. This match will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the two sides with New England holding a 3-2-4 record against Orlando who entered MLS as an expansion side in 2015.

“They have great individual players,” said Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell. “As a team they have done well in their last one. It is going to be a warm one, but we will be prepared.”

After this match New England will finally return to MLS action with a two-match homestand starting on June 26th hosting the Philadelphia Union.
